Origin
‘Origin’ hovers between the corporeal and meta-physical. Protick’s use of light as a protagonist, is combined with deliberate monochromatic arrangements. It is a suspended reality, where we are in a concurrent state of wake and sleep. In this reality, time is perpetually slowed; and for the first time we are not just looking, but seeing. Origin is composed of projection and sound within an altered space. We recognise that the sound is rooted in classical instrumentation; yet is feels wholly instinctual. The slow, steady transition of red light moving across night skies hypnotises as the orchestration lulls us slowly. We are now firmly in an organic atmosphere, witness to a seemingly infinite transition.
Sarker Protick is an artist from Dhaka, Bangladesh, who primarily works with the medium of light and sound. Hovering between the corporeal and meta-physical, Protick’s use of light as protagonist creates a truth that is more emotional than factual. His approach incorporates detailed observations and subtle gestures to enter into personal spaces. Former member of VII Photo Agency, Sarker is currently represented by East Wing Gallery.
